One thing is for sure - it has made me realize that the only way to make other people aware of the world outside their own front yard, is a device you carry on your shoulder with a big red button that says - RECORD!

(PRWEB) July 23, 2008 -- Leading online travel insurance provider, WorldNomads.com, together with the Nat Geo Adventure, is calling for entrants into its 2008 Documentary Scholarship. The winner will go 'on assignment' in Rajasthan, India with experienced documentary producer Trent O'Donnell to create a video documentary about a World Expeditions community project trek.

In the first WorldNomads.com scholarship open to everyone internationally - not just students - the scholarship recipient's resulting video will be considered for broadcast on the Nat Geo Adventure Channel. The recipients will also receive a Lenovo Ideapad laptop to write their 'on the road' blog and travel gear from Paddy Pallin.

Global Marketing Manager of WorldNomads.com, Chris Noble, says the documentary scholarship is part of a broader educational program, which includes travel writing, photography and podcasting opportunities.

"We're looking to identify and support talented and ambitious individuals - and help them bring their passion for travel to life, whether through documentaries, photography or travel writing," says Chris. "We want to help travelers follow their dreams."

Last year's documentary winner, Cesar Salmeron, said it had been a great honour to be chosen.

"This trip has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life, simply because this was the first time that I was traveling for a single reason: Capture the people around you and create a compelling and engaging narrative," said Cesar. "One thing is for sure - it has made me realize that the only way to make other people aware of the world outside their own front yard, is a device you carry on your shoulder with a big red button that says - RECORD!"

Full scholarship details are available at WorldNomads.com.
